Our mission is to discover new medications for debilitating diseases and make them affordable to all.

New medicines… for Tuberculosis, Malaria, and Alzheimer’s disease.

While commonly seen as a disease of the past, Tuberculosis remains the leading cause of death from infectious disease worldwide. It is found in every country across the globe, and urgency grows as numerous strains have become resistant to current medications. New solutions are desperately needed.

Malaria is a similarly daunting problem. Controlling the disease is an ongoing challenge that requires a combination of environmental preventative measures, next-generation medicines that address antimicrobial resistance, and treatments safe for pregnant women and young children who are disproportionately affected by Malaria.

Alzheimer’s disease is a serious neurodegenerative disease that leads to diminished ability to pursue daily activities. It robs the patient of their memory and places tremendous weight on family and caregivers. Despite many attempts, there are not yet any effective treatments for Alzheimer’s.

Debilitating… physically and financially.

In 2019, 10 million new cases of Tuberculosis were reported. 1.2 million of these were children living in the poorest countries, and 1.4 million people died from the disease. Cases of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis increased by 10% from 2018 to 2019. The current drugs take too long to work, have many side effects, and are very costly.

There were an estimated 229 million cases of Malaria across the world in 2019, with 409,000 deaths. The disease can kill within 24 hours of symptom onset, and about 95% of deaths are concentrated in regions of Africa. Children under age five are the most vulnerable and account for 67% of those who did not survive the disease.

50 million people worldwide currently have Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, and Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. With an aging population, these estimates are increasing rapidly each year. Alzheimer’s leaves individuals drained of their memory, quality of life, and financial independence.

Affordable/Accessible… no patient should be denied.

Lgenia exists to find hope for these problems. We believe that new medicines begin their trek to patients right at the very start of discovery. The very best, highest quality medicines should be affordable and accessible to all patients. A new future begins with Lgenia – the essence of lead generation…
